Things I’ve Been Working On

So I continue to be a little unmotivated this week.  I was hoping to get a new cartridge for my Xyron machine, but never did.  Then my blade broke on my saw so I still have to get a new one.  I figured I would post photos of what I have done so far, even though the projects aren’t yet complete. The first one is this set of Countdown to Christmas blocks.  The paper I used is off white with lots of gold, glittery snowflakes all over.  I then added red glitter to my numbers.  I was happy with them until I added some mod podge to the whole works of it.  I thought...

Slow Week

Well I haven’t done too much this week.  I did start a new set of bookends, and I cut a couple of Christmas ornaments out of wood, I just can’t figure out how I want to decorate them.  I’m trying to re-organize my work area and I’m taking over my kids desk.  For some reason, any time I start a project, my desk turns into a disaster zone.  Trying to work around my Cricut machine and laptop isn’t fun, so I decided I need an extra work area. I also started a new set of Christmas countdown blocks that I’m waiting to finish.  I’ve...

New ABC 123 Bookends

This is the newest set of bookends I’ve been working on that my friend Brandy asked me to make for a baby shower gift.  Each block is two inches square and has been covered in three different, really cute, ‘So Sophie, My Mind’s Eye’ papers.  I used “Living Proof” Pleasant Stripe, “Forever With You” Delightful Diamond, and “Simple Things” Nice Numbers papers. I distressed each block in the front by sanding, as well as all of the edges of the bookends.  Everything was painted a bright white, then sealed with...

Club Penguin Puffle

Here’s another Club Penguin Puffle I made the other day.  I put the svg up at Craft Edge a couple of days ago under the ‘cartoon’ category and forgot to post a photo of it here.  I’m going to be adding an angry puffle (I think he’s the grey or black one) right away too, so keep an eye out for that.  I still have to get my wood cutouts put up on my site but I’ve been a little busy the last couple of days.  I’m making a new set of bookends for a friend of mine, so I’ll post a picture of those when I’m done as well!.

Puffle Post

I started out by sanding and priming some of my blocks today and got side tracked with another idea.  I decided to try creating a Puffle svg.  My son is into Club Penguin right now so I thought I’d make a little shelf decoration for his room.  Creating this puffle svg hasn’t been easy for me.  I don’t really know how to make svg’s that well, but I’m happy with how it turned out (except I did the one in my photo backwards.  He was supposed to be leaning the other way). I’ll be posting the raw wood puffle shape in my shop tomorrow....

Christmas Countdown Blocks

I finally finished my first set of Christmas Countdown Blocks.  Each block is 3″ x 3″ and sit on a six inch 2″ x 4″ block.  Each side of the block has a different piece of Christmas patterned paper on it.  I added snowflakes and gems to each side as well.  In the evening the lighting makes the gems sparkle. I can’t wait to put these blocks up on my mantle at Christmas.  I know my kids are going to love flipping them each day.  I might make a set for my front entrance shelf as well, or perhaps for the rec. room downstairs!  I guess it is...

New Harvest Blocks

Well my fireplace mantle has been decorated and I’m just about ready for Thanksgiving.  I put up a bunch of leafy garland that I bought at Michaels and added my HARVEST blocks that I made a couple of weeks ago.  I painted these blocks brown and added patterned paper to each one in fall colors.  A couple of little pumpkins finished off the decorations!  I would still like to make something for my front entrance as well, like maybe a Give Thanks board, or something like that.  Maybe I’ll get to do that before the...

Hallowe’en Countdown Blocks

I just finished my Hallowe’en countdown blocks!  This is such a cute project.  I made them on 3″ x 3″ square blocks of wood, with a 2″ x 4″ for the bottom block.  Each side has been covered in a different pattern of Hallowe’en paper, and each side has a number on it.  The blocks were painted black and have been sealed with mod podge and varnish.  This is a fun wood project for halloween and kids will love flipping the blocks each day until then!  I’m going to be selling a Countdown Blocks Kit soon which will be great for any...
