Martha Stewart Punches

I thought I would treat myself to a couple of new punches today at Walmart.  I picked up the Embossed Pop Up Daisy, and the Monarch Butterfly, both by Martha Stewart.  I was especially excited about the daisy, until I got it home and realized I didn’t look the box good enough.  I thought it punched out the whole daisy, but it turns out it just punches out the petals so they pop up from the rest of the paper.  It’s still a neat idea for making cards and scrapbook layouts, but I was hoping I would be able to stick them onto other projects as well.  Also,...

Valentine’s Day Treat Bags

Here’s an example of the Valentine’s Day treat bags I’m making for my son’s class.  I bought some cellophane goody bags with hearts on them at the dollar store which measured 4″ wide by 4″ long.  This was perfect because it allowed me to cut out bags with my Cricut machine that were 12″ long by 4″ wide.  This way I could fit 3 on a 12″ x 12″ piece of cardstock. I ended up making my own paper bags using the basic shapes available in SCAL.  I used the rectangle and the heart, which was super easy.  I got my...

New Cricut Magazine and Button Punch

Today I received my Cricut magazine and my button punch in the mail.  They were ordered from different places, it just happened that they both showed up today.  Needless to say, I’m a very happy person! I love the Cricut Magazine.  In case you didn’t see my previous entry, you can go to Cricut.com and order their new magazine online.  I got a six month subscription and I think I’ll be very happy that I did!  The thing I’m liking about this magazine is that it isn’t just about cards, or layouts…it’s about everything you can do...

Purple Owl Bookends

This is my latest set of owl bookends that I’ve done in purple this time.  I liked the dark purple and thought it would be fun to work with.  I painted the owls in another shade of purple, and yellow.   I then added green, pink and orange papers for the design.  I gave each owl pretty green eyes, and I added some glitter globe gems to the edge of each bookend. My Crafty Shop is now open so feel free to click the link above, or click here, to view my products!

Turtle Bookends

I just finished my newest set of bookends.  Inspired by the Cocalo Turtle Bay bedding, I created these cute turtle bookends.  I did them in tan, blues, greens, and a soft buttery yellow.  I love how the blues pop against the black and yellow.  I also added little blue and green starfish on the ends as well. This set would go great in an ocean or turtle themed bedroom or nursery.  The Turtle Bay bedding I think is geared more towards boys, but these colors would work in a little girl’s room as well.  I’m planning on doing a set in more girly colors also,...

Wood Love Letters

Today’s inspiration was Valentine’s day.  I decided to try my hand at cutting out a new font style.  I ended up using the Script MT Bold font because I like that the “O” was open at the top and I wouldn’t have to use my other saw to cut out the center.  The letters are also a little wider than some which is good for preventing the wood from breaking. I painted the letters a soft pink then dabbed on a darker pink for a distressed look.  I used the same paper that I used in my previous post of the heart, as well as another Valentine’s...

Valentine’s Challenge

I created this Valentine’s door hanger for a challenge that Craft Edge has on right now.  It has to be in a Valentine’s theme, and you must use your SCAL program to do it.  For mine, I used the heart provided by the SCAL program in Basic Shapes.  I overlapped my black paper onto some pretty pink paper by the Anna Griffin line (it’s really sparkly!).  I used the French Script MT font for my lettering, and I found the lips in the Craft Edge forum provided by Craigg64 via clker.com.  Thanks so much by the way!  I then just added some sparkly pink gems...

Pink and Blue Owls

This is the latest set of owl bookends to go up for sale in my shop.  I painted these owls pink and blue, and used paper patterns in pink, green, blue and yellow to decorated them.  Each bookend was painted in a soft yellow and Wild Green for the outer edge.  I added little pink flowers and pink gems to the outer corner of each bookend, and also used the same flowers in pink and green on the owls ears.  This is  a really cute set that would go great with the Love N Nature bedroom set, or pretty much any other owl decor!
