Mining Tour Scrapbook Layout

I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t had much time to do any of my Crafty Canada stuff, and realized I hadn’t done a post in quite some time.  Seeing as I haven’t made anything recently, I decided I would put up one of my scrapbooking layouts I did a while back. This layout is of the Mascot Mine tour we did in Hedley, BC with some friend of ours.  It was a long and windy drive up a mountain to get to it, but once there, it was amazing to tour around the buildings that were clinging to the mountainside.  Be warned if you ever decide to tour it...

Funky Owl Bookends

I’ve added a couple more owl bookends to my shop over the last couple of days using my new owl design.  I do have a few to finish up of both the old owl design and the new as well.  The latest two have both been done with the crackle paint edging as well, but this time in a bright, hot pink color, and a bright turquoise blue.  I think the bright colors are so cheery and fun! I’m going to be adding unfinished sets to my shop soon too, offering both of my owl designs.  This means there will be three different owl designs to choose from and finish off at home!...

New Owl Bookend Design

I’ve finally created some owl bookends, and decided it was time to come up with a second owl design.  These little guys are what I came up with, and I think they’re so cute!  I just love their little faces 🙂 .  This time around though I decided to try a crackle paint technique on my bookends around the outer edges, just for something different.  I suppose it gives them some what of a shabby chic kind of look. I’ve continued to use the flowers on the owls ears, and gems down the sides of each end, just because I like the way they look.  And I also...

Gourd Birdhouse

I just finished my cute gourd birdhouse, which is a perfect spring project!  This svg kit, which was bought at SVGCuts, was part of the Spring Birdhouse SVG Kit collection.  It was one of three different birdhouses, the other two being the classic house style, and the other a milk carton style.  All three are in one collection for $6.99! This birdhouse only took a couple of hours to make.  It could probably go quicker for some people, but I’m not the snappiest at paper crafting!  The svg’s are super easy to use because all the parts of the birdhouse have...

April/May Cricut Magazine

I received the April/May issue of the Cricut magazine in the mail today.  It’s featuring lots of pretty spring colors like pink, yellow, green and blue.  Some of this issues topics include Springtime, Mother’s Day, Banners, and Graduation.  I personally love the little banners they’ve made for their layouts. One idea I saw in here was cutting out images on transfer paper and ironing it onto a bag.  I thought this could be a fun idea for kids gym stip at school, a bag for the pool, or the beach this summer.  I’ll have to try it out once I find...

New Green and Lavender Bookends

Today I finished two new sets of bookends.  Each are done in grey, black, and white; but one set was done with lavender and the other with green.  These are two simple sets that would go great in rooms done with either of these colors as accents. I also added some scribble flowers to each set and put a little white pearl in the center of each one.  I added three white pearls down the front edge of each bookend as well. The set done in green might look more yellow in the photo, but my camera is making things look lighter and more washed out than they actually are.  The...

Love Laugh Pray Bookends

This is my latest idea I had for my bookends with blocks.  I wanted to put words on them that would be fitting for a little girl.  I came up with Sing, Dance, Play, Love, Laugh, Pray.  I did them in soft pink, purple, and green.  I added some pretty paper to the front of each block, as well as added some gems and a cute little flower. The bookends have been painted a light pink, and I sanded all the edges for distressing.  The words were done in a fun font to add a little whimsy to the blocks.  I think this set would be great in a girl’s room.  The words...

Sweet Baby Boy Card

I thought I would try my hand at one of the cards in the Cricut magazine that I got recently, so I decided to make the Sweet Baby Boy card found on page 22.  In the magazine they used the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge for the stars, but I used the star from the Sure Cuts A Lot shapes box. I cut out two stars at 5 1/2″ in a light green, and two stars at 5″, one in polka dots, and one in white for the inside of my card.  I also cut out a smaller star at about 2″ in green with cream polka dots.  I inked around my outer star with Blue Sky distressing ink by...
