Teacher’s Gift Ideas for Christmas

If any of you have a Cricut machine, then you should absolutely get the SCAL program from Craft Edge, then go to svgcuts and download their super cute svg files for Christmas!  I just downloaded this drum and sleigh from their Santa’s Visit SVG Kit, and I think they’re perfect for creating teacher’s gifts for my boys to give to their teachers this year. I always say I’m the worst gift giver there is.  I never know what to give people…especially teachers!  But this year I’m going to do up two of the little drums, fill them with some...

Halloween SVG Craft

Here’s a Halloween SVG I got from SVGCuts.  It’s a treat cone decorated as a bat!  I thought it was so cute and just had to get it.  This came in a kit with a cauldron, a scrapbook page layout, and a spider template.  I thought this treat cone would be perfect to decorate and fill with candy to give to my boys as a special Halloween surprise.  Although, once I made it, I thought it would be a great decoration as well and hung it up on one of my closet doors in my house :).  It was just too cute! This Halloween SVG was so easy to make, and they have a...

Wooden Pumpkin and Boo Blocks

Hallowe’en is getting closer!  The leaves are falling off the trees, and the days are getting cool and crisp.  Fall is my favorite time of year! In honor of fall and Hallowe’en I created a wooden pumpkin and some cute little BOO blocks to display in my front entrance.  I used an SVG to cut out the bottom pumpkin and use as my template to cut out in wood.  I then made an oval to attach to the front of the pumpkin just to give it some dimension. I painted them in yellow ochre, school bus yellow, and leaf green.  I used the yellow ochre as my base color for...

Witch Boot SVG

I received my October issue of the Cricut magazine yesterday.  I was so excited considering I thought my subscription was up!  I was even thumbing through the last issue I got a couple of days ago looking for Halloween ideas, but of course didn’t really find anything.  This issue has lots of cute ideas, so I was definitely inspired to make something! On page 20 they created a couple of pictures on canvas boards using the Happy Hauntings Cricut cartridge.  They did a hat on one,  and a witch’s boot on the other.  I don’t yet have this cartridge but I...

Thanksgiving Day Cricut Craft – Go...

I made this set of Gobble ‘Til Ya Wobble blocks using my Cricut machine today.  It was SO EASY to make.  It took me next to no time at all.  I think this is one of the easiest, and quickest, crafts I’ve made!  All I needed were three 7″ blocks made from two by four wood, which I had my husband cut for me.  This wood is very inexpensive, and you can even get it cut into smaller pieces at the hardware store for easy hauling home, if you don’t have a truck :). I gave each piece of wood a quick coat of brown paint.  I only did one coat because you...

Owl Coat Hook

This is my newest creation to go along with the whole owl theme.  This is my little coat hook I created in brown, green, and purple.  This sleeping owl is about 8″ high by 7″ wide and has had a brushed silver knob screwed to the front of it.  Green and purple flowers were added to the ear to give this little owl a cute girly look! Two key hole notches were put in the back for hanging.  These are great because the owl is hooked solid to the wall and won’t move around when you hang up or remove sweaters, like it would with just a hook on the back. This...

Dinosaur Stacking Blocks

I found the cutest dinosaur paper at the scrapbook store the other day.  I grabbed the Dino Parade and BabySaurus papers from the Little Yellow Bicycle Collection.  I’ve been wanting to do some decorative stacking blocks, so I thought this paper would be perfect on them! I cut three blocks approximately three inches each, primed them, and painted them each a different color, light orange, green, and blue.  Because the colors were all so light I thought I would add a darker shade of the same color cardstock to each side, before mounting my dino paper onto them. I...

Lunch Bag and Backpack Key Tags

My boys are going back to school in a week (goodbye summer :() so I wanted to think of a project for that occasion.  I’m always keeping my eyes open in stores for cute things that can hang off the zippers on their backpacks or lunchboxes.  I thought, why not cut out shapes, use my Xyron machine to laminate them, and make key tags out of them! I used my Create a Critter Cricut cartridge and cut out the two little dino’s in blue, green and orange cardstock.  I put the laminating cartridge in my Xyron machine and ran them through.  Before cutting them out I...
