Kids Canada Day Craft Idea

I wanted to create a quick Canada Day craft that might be fun for kids to do, so I settled on a pinwheel.  I used products that I had around the house already, and didn’t even need to use my Cricut or Cuttlebug machines!  Instead I used a piece of white paper, a scewer stick (a pencil or other small stick would work too), a bendy straw, a brad, a 1″ circle cut from paper or cardstock, and some scotch tape.  I used a regular piece of printer paper to show an easy way to cut your paper into a perfect square.  If you notice in the picture my paper has been...

Owl Birthday Invitation

I bought the Hoot ‘n’ Holler Cricut cartridge a while back, and I love all the cute little owls available on it.  I decided to create a birthday invitation with the Hoo’s Having a Birthday cutout on it.  Because it has a few layers on it I was able to use a few different colors for it. I decided to do it in bright colors because when I think of birthdays I think of lots of bright, fun color.  The black is obviously dark, so I decided to layer it onto a bright sunshine yellow. I set the letters to 3″, as well as the owl (which was also from the...

Mining Tour Scrapbook Layout

I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t had much time to do any of my Crafty Canada stuff, and realized I hadn’t done a post in quite some time.  Seeing as I haven’t made anything recently, I decided I would put up one of my scrapbooking layouts I did a while back. This layout is of the Mascot Mine tour we did in Hedley, BC with some friend of ours.  It was a long and windy drive up a mountain to get to it, but once there, it was amazing to tour around the buildings that were clinging to the mountainside.  Be warned if you ever decide to tour it...

Gourd Birdhouse

I just finished my cute gourd birdhouse, which is a perfect spring project!  This svg kit, which was bought at SVGCuts, was part of the Spring Birdhouse SVG Kit collection.  It was one of three different birdhouses, the other two being the classic house style, and the other a milk carton style.  All three are in one collection for $6.99! This birdhouse only took a couple of hours to make.  It could probably go quicker for some people, but I’m not the snappiest at paper crafting!  The svg’s are super easy to use because all the parts of the birdhouse have...

Sweet Baby Boy Card

I thought I would try my hand at one of the cards in the Cricut magazine that I got recently, so I decided to make the Sweet Baby Boy card found on page 22.  In the magazine they used the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge for the stars, but I used the star from the Sure Cuts A Lot shapes box. I cut out two stars at 5 1/2″ in a light green, and two stars at 5″, one in polka dots, and one in white for the inside of my card.  I also cut out a smaller star at about 2″ in green with cream polka dots.  I inked around my outer star with Blue Sky distressing ink by...

Martha Stewart Punches

I thought I would treat myself to a couple of new punches today at Walmart.  I picked up the Embossed Pop Up Daisy, and the Monarch Butterfly, both by Martha Stewart.  I was especially excited about the daisy, until I got it home and realized I didn’t look the box good enough.  I thought it punched out the whole daisy, but it turns out it just punches out the petals so they pop up from the rest of the paper.  It’s still a neat idea for making cards and scrapbook layouts, but I was hoping I would be able to stick them onto other projects as well.  Also,...
