I recently bought a can of white primer which was oil based. I knew I would regret it, but I had asked the sales person if I could use a latex paint on top of it, and she said yes. Confidently, I might add. Well, not so. I’ve put two coats of black on top and the white is still showing through. Errrrr! Also, I thought I’d be smart and buy a spray on primer, thinking it would be quicker. Maybe I’m just not skilled enough with the ol’ aerosol can, because I found it went on thick, and was a real waste of paint. Well, I guess I’ll just have to play around and see if I can give my wood blocks a rustic look. Hopefully with some skillful sanding it’ll work out for me.
I was hoping to do the word HOME for my niece, but maybe I’ll have to keep this set for myself. I’m sure with a little jazzing up with some nice paper, ribbon and distressing they’ll still look good anyway. I’ll post a picture when I’m done to show how my project turned out. Live and learn, I guess.
